Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO)
Patient & Caregiver Educational Resources
RVO is a complication of blocked blood vessels that drain blood away from the retina. This can cause swelling of the tissues of the retina and problems with central vision, which is needed for everyday activities. Besides vision loss, RVO can be related to higher risk of cardiovascular issues such as heart attack or stroke. Treatment to reduce tissue swelling, if needed, and regular eye exams after an RVO has occurred are important for identifying and controlling complications that can contribute to permanent vision loss.
Learn more about the different types of RVO and how RVO affects the eye, risk for developing RVO, available treatments and ways to take an active role in maintaining healthy vision by exploring different topics within the portal. High-definition animations, apps and other tools for your mobile phone about RVO, related symptoms and treatment can be found in HD Visual Learning.
